To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A sloppy throw-in by Edmond Schollens in the 6th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Fauna Utd's Dante Huts. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Unai Sócrates managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fauna Utd's supporters rose to their feet, but Unai Sócrates was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rein Bautmans breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Fauna Utd booed when La Selección was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jan-Simon Van Adorp didn't get a good kick on the ball. Unai Sócrates fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rein Bautmans having to interfere. Unai Sócrates did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 6-0 to the left of a surprised Rein Bautmans 44 minutes into the match. Af the end of the first half the score was 6-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Unai Sócrates received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Rein Bautmans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
